Our commitment to organic viticulture & wine production begins with our responsibility to the environment & extends to producing a completely natural product for our customers. We use only organically approved & naturally occurring substances for all vineyard applications ~ this means no chemical insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or synthetic fertilizers. Like farmers for centuries before us, we rely on our experience & the advantageous use of our location, climate, volcanic soil, & organic techniques. All grape skins & seeds are composted & returned to the vineyard, and cover crops of vetch & rye are grown between the vine rows for nitrogen & humus. We also utilize crop & shoot thinning to control vigor & limit yields, which increase flavors & aromas in the finished wines.
