Ch Pougelon

The Descombe family is only the third family to own the Château de Pougelon in Saint-Etienne-des-Ouillières at the foot of Mont Bouilly. Built in 1662 by the de La Font family, the Château de Pougelon was designed in the architectural styles of Henri IV and Louis XIII and has a long history of wine and winemaking. Since acquiring the estate, the Descombe family has sought to restore this grand Beaujolais estate to its former glory, including renovating the château and its outbuildings and expanding the estate to include not only the original Beaujolais Villages vineyard sites but also other appellations from the south to the north of Beaujolais. Now, thanks to its numerous national and international awards, Château de Pougelon is becoming the benchmark for wines produced by the Descombe family throughout the Beaujolais region.
