Solomon Hills Estate

Exquisite, cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the westernmost edge of the Santa Maria Valley.
Planted by the Miller Family, in the late 1990s, Solomon Hills Vineyard sits just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean, making it the coolest site in the Santa Maria Valley appellation. This extreme coastal proximity results in a long growing season, allowing grapes to develop vibrant, complex flavors while retaining brilliant acidity.
The vineyard’s sandy loam soils, once part of an ancient seabed and now classified as part of the Garey series, are rich in marine deposits. This distinctive terroir imparts nuance and minerality to the wines, creating a style that is both powerful in youth and refined with age.
Named after Salomon Pico—the infamous 19th-century bandit and local folk hero—Solomon Hills has earned a reputation for producing some of the most elegant and expressive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on California’s Central Coast.
Crafted by winemaker Anthony Avila using the same artisanal approach as sister vineyard Bien Nacido, Solomon Hills wines reveal a distinct personality that reflects its singular location. While the winemaking philosophy remains consistent, the coastal influence and sandy soils set Solomon Hills apart—resulting in wines celebrated for their precision, bright fruit, and youthful energy.
With each vintage, Solomon Hills continues to garner critical acclaim and stand as a benchmark for cool-climate wines in Santa Maria Valley.
