The Story

From Waterval Farm — a dry-farmed and sustainably farmed vineyard on ancient decomposed granite soils. The vineyard is at 950 ft in elevation in the foothills of the Paardeberg mountain in the Swartland.

We package the wine in 1.5 liter pouches (aka ‘Bagnums’) because great wine deserves to be shared. They keep wine fresh for 45+ days once opened and reduce carbon emissions by 85% compared to glass. They’re light, durable, and travel-friendly for BBQs or beach days — but also make a perfect fridge staple, since you never have to stress about opening a bottle you won’t finish.

About My Dear Friends

Producer Story

At My Dear Friends, we work with small, thoughtful growers across South Africa to make honest and expressive wines. Our vineyards sit on some of the oldest and most unique soils in the world—from sandy riverbeds to ancient decomposed granite slopes—and are farmed sustainably, often without irrigation.

We bottle everything in 1L bottles and 1.5L “Bagnums,” because great wine deserves to be shared. These formats go wherever you do—whether it’s a backyard BBQ, a weekend trip, or a Tuesday night at home—and they’re lighter on the planet, too. (Bonus: the pouch actually keeps the wine fresh longer.)
