The Story

Luigi Arnulfo is one of the most representative examples of those men from Langhe that have had intuitions, courage and unconditional love for their land. Among the first to recognize the value of the hills we now call “cru”, in 1874 he acquired the properties that make up today’s Costa di Bussia, in one of the most valuable areas of the town of Monforte d’Alba, already pointing the geographical indication “Bussia” on its labels. He was able to successfully send a consignment of bottles of Barolo to the United States, in California, writing the 1883 vintage on the label. For the first time, the Barolo wine export did not take place using the typical cask of that time, but a squared glass bottle of about a gallon of capacity, specifically designed to make more efficient the transport and maximize space. In tribute to Luigi Arnulfo, we have reproduced, exclusivity of Costa Bussia, the square bottle shipped overseas, copying the original sample found in the cellar and currently exhibited in the Historical Museum Luigi Arnulfo. And here it is, our Jeroboam 3 liter D.O.C.G. Barolo Luigi Arnulfo, 2010 vintage, presented in a limited edition of 100 copies, to pass on the genius of the man who, among the first, believed in Barolo and had the idea of what would be the export future for the world of Italian wine.
