The Character
Aromas Truffles, mushrooms and game open up into black cherry, red currant, baking spices and rose petals.
Mouthfeel Medium body with silky tannins.
Tasting Notes Savory aromas of truffles, mushrooms and game open up into black cherry, red currant, allspice, cinnamon, and rose petal. On the palate, vibrant raspberry, cranberry and plum, rose petal, green tea, spice, and a wet-rock iron-like minerality unique to this area. Medium body, super soft tannins and good acidity. Elegant Mourvèdre from ancient sandstone soil in a continental semi-arid climate.
The Story
The 2021 Mourvèdre is sourced from vines planted by Robb and Dilek Parr at their vineyard west of Mason. These vines are on their own roots, not grafted, in old sandstone soils overlaying granite. One of the highest-density Mourvèdre plantings in TX at 7x4, the tight spacing promotes uniformity and lower yields per plant, making this block ideal for producing quality red wines.
