The Character

Overall bright red fruit, light oak, energetic
Aromas cherry, cedar, tobacco leaf, crushed herbs
Mouthfeel medium bodied, fresh crunchy
Tasting Notes With the drier growing season naturally reducing yields, this vintage of the lightest red from Bodegas F. Rubio shows an extra layer of concentration and purity. Tempranillo once again proves its affinity for the northern Baja terroir, but here the fruit is slightly darker and more focused, supported by a firmer spine of acidity. The wine remains bright and expressive, yet the lower rainfall has endowed it with a touch more depth and finesse. Already delicious, it promises even greater harmony after a short rest in the cellar, where its finely shaped edges will meld into something truly striking. A poised, lifted wine that hints at even more brilliance in the years ahead.
Selling Point high toned red, fresh, youthful, food wine
Pairings red meats, lamb, roasted chicken and lentils

The Story

A varietal Tempranillo from the organically farmed estate vines of Bodegas F. Rubio. This is their red ment to be consumed in its youth while you let their other wines age in the cellar. Bright and fresh and perfect with food. In a word, crushable.

About Bodegas F. Rubio

Producer Story

Founded in 2003 by Francisco Rubio, this family-owned boutique estate exemplifies thoughtful, terroir-driven winemaking. Organically farmed, estate-grown fruit is hand-harvested and vinified to express place. Set on the gently sloping northern face of Valle de Guadalupe, the winery benefits from clay and decomposed sandstone soils and reliable access to fresh water. A truly family-run operation, three generations of the Rubio family work side by side—as winemaker, agronomist, and chef—while the elephant that appears on each label signifies, at once, the concept of a tightly knit family group that sticks together, and an individual member of the family to whom each wine is dedicated.
