The Character

Overall Opulent and intense with focus.
Aromas Serious, concentrated and intense, this has layers of oatmeal, pear, citrus, lanolin and dried honey
Mouthfeel Immense density and and power
Tasting Notes The 2023 Mev. Kirsten vintage features lime, citrus, and melba toast aromas, complemented by a fresh aspect that extends into pear skin and green apple pulp. This vintage’s hallmark across all the Chenin vineyards is the production of full-bodied wines with vibrant acidity and linear finishes. Consequently, this vintage is more restrained in character, yet it offers incredible complexity, substantial volume, and viscosity. While decanting enhances the wine, it cannot replace the benefits of aging.
Selling Point South Africa's Old Chenin Blanc vineyard, iconic wine.
Pairings Roast meats or just alone with fellow wine lovers.

The Story

Part of the Sadie Old Vine Series, Mev Kirsten is the oldest Chenin Blanc vineyard in the Cape, planted in 1905 on decomposed sandstone and alluvial granite soils. Sadie has worked with this vineyard since 2006 and during the last number of years, we have invested much in improving it in terms of soil health and inter-planting. An interesting fact is that the younger vines in this vineyard ripen about two weeks prior to the old vines, so we pick them first and they are still vinified separately.
